Typesetting in InDesign for Book Publishers

This one day InDesign course in London concentrates on the principles involved in building long, predominantly text only documents with InDesign.  It is appropriate for typesetting books such as novels, biographies, academic and reference books.

You will learn everything you need to know in order to take full advantage of InDesign’s typesetting and formatting features.   We will show you the most efficient ways to set up documents in order to save time and ensure consistency throughout.

Who is the course aimed at?
Designers, typesetters, authors who are probably already typesetting with InDesign and have a basic skill level, able to create and manipulate text and have an understanding of concepts such as the use of Paragraph & Character styles. However, no previous typesetting experience necessary.

Mark is our InDesign trainer and has worked in book publishing as a designer and trainer for nearly twenty five years. After studying graphic design Mark worked for various design studios before taking on a training role at Dorling Kindersley. While at DK he advised on best practices for book creation and ran a team of in-house DTP staff. Following DK's merger with Penguin, Mark worked as a key member of the management team responsible for the group's migration to InDesign. Mark is currently Publishing Manager for InXmedia Ltd and continues to work 'hands-on' designing and typesetting books as well as being responsible for print production and publishing activities within the company.
